Production engineer in timber

From the purchase of timber from sawmills through to final delivery to the customer, the timber engineer is involved in the whole manufacturing chain. This very versatile role manages the product, its design, its production, and the people as well. In a large organization, it concentrates more on continual improvement, whereas in a small business, it tends to cut across a number of disciplines. 

Qualities required: listening ability, thoroughness, and accuracy combined with an aptitude for the medium and long-term view.
