CORRUVEN ® CORRUGATES WOOD AND ARRIVES IN FRANCE!

Corr&You is the material the innovative Canadian company Corruven® has selected to spearhead its French market development of products featuring its revolutionary wood corrugation technology. From packaging to fitting out, by way of construction and furnishing, the outlets for this material are countless in view of its unique mechanical, aesthetic, and environmental qualities.
Corr&You development manager Jeroen Schuyleman fills in the details for us.

What makes Corruven® so innovative?

The process itself is innovative, forming natural resin coated wood veneer into what we call corrugated wood. With this, we can make engineered wood panels that are very tough, ultra-light, and above all outshine solid timber and particle board when it comes to stability in humid conditions. The product is completely devoid of any swelling, deformation, or delamination.

To give you an example, a 19mm corrugated wood sheet becomes six times as strong while using 75% less wood. A further benefit is that everything from wood waste to noble species can be used, depending on the desired yield and intended use. This material’s potential also resides in its small environmental footprint—it minimizes timber consumption, uses no solvent glues, optimizes transport fuel and storage costs, captures twice as much CO2 as traditional products, and is of course 100% compostable.

What Corr&You applications will you be focusing on for its commercial development?

We will be focusing on two sectors: packaging and fitting out. Corruven® products offer major advantages when it comes to replacing corrugated card, polystyrene, or foam. We have therefore begun discussions with industrial manufacturers who wish to transition to more eco-responsible packaging materials and optimize their environmental performance. We also want to develop panels and boards for fitting-out applications and bring them to the attention of specifiers and influencers.

Last but not least, we also promote the Uven-R range developed by Corruven®, featuring stylish materials that combine corrugated wood “pantiles” with stapled baize and aluminium plates. Apart from its decorative qualities, suited to very contemporary interior styling, this product is a very effective noise deadener.  We imagine multiple applications in hotels, conference centres, company reception areas and the like.
We will have the opportunity to present the wide range of potential Corruven® product applications at the coming edition of Eurobois, and we fully intend to win ourselves an innovation award!

How do you plan to cope with the demand, which shows every sign of being a fast grower?

The licensing agreement we are finalizing with Corruven® initially means converting the raw material in France to suit our customers’ needs, then in the medium term, say two years, creating our own production unit. Relations with Corruven® are very motivating. It’s a truly visionary business, for whom preservation of the environment and global cost reduction are priorities. Its founder, forestry engineer Alain Belanger who will be making a special trip to the Eurobois trade show, is seeking to develop solutions for specific applications in collaboration with his customers. We are perfectly in step with this outlook and are preparing ourselves for a rapid growth phase.

Thank you Jeroen Schuyleman for your testimonial!
