Oak exports looking good

The exportation of oak, in rough and sawn form alike, started climbing again  between mid-2016 and mid-2017 in terms of both value and volume.

Great results for oak in 2017, with an 8.5% progression in exports of both logs and pulpwood, which have reached €71 million.
As far as sawn oak production is concerned, the lights are also showing green, with a rise of 6% taking the volume to 600,000m³.
Sawn oak thus syphoned off 148 million euros between July, 2016 and June, 2017. This species has been driving exports of sawn temperate hardwood. According to Chinese statistics, exports destined for China amounted to 31,500m³ in the first half of 2017, which already exceeds volumes for the whole of 2016.
